Strideout is a women’s only running group based in the Wisewood area of Sheffield.
Strideout is the latest thing to venture out of Wisewood Sports Centre and encourage all women to come along and join in.
Why Strideout?
We all know the benefits that running has to our health, but few of us have the confidence to take up the sport for various reasons…we worry about what we look like, how we will feel, will I get out of breath too quickly, will the hills be to steep, will my wobbly bits wobble too much when I run! None of this matters at Strideout as we all support and encourage each other to try our best and find a pace, distance that we are happy with, after all we aren’t all built like Paula Radcliffe or Jessica Ennis (as much as we may like to be!)
We’ve heard the excuses……no one to look after the children, shopping to do, I work full-time and the horror stories of people going along to a running club, only to be welcomed by the ‘No sorry we don’t do walk/jog sessions here’ We’ve all been down the park and seen lycra clad Adonis’s sprinting past and thought gosh I’d never be able to keep up! Well we hope Strideout can give you knowledge and techniques each week to improve your pace and running style and make you all together more motivated to run.
Sessions
Strideout offers its members two options, a ‘walk/jog’ session which gives those new to running the opportunity to give it a try in a staggered programme increasing the jog and decreasing the walk sections each week. The second option is the ‘run’ session which encourages participants to run for a more sustained period of time, they also incorporate speed, interval training to try and improve pace.
Every few weeks they change routes and we try and incorporate both road and off-road options for members, keeping runs interesting and different, so you will never get bored but will have the chance to see your pace improve. Yes they may moan about those hills but living in Sheffield gives the group the great opportunity to experience some beautiful countryside whilst improving technique and remember the hills will help tighten those butt cheeks.
So ladies we all have demanding life’s but believe me the demands of life seem that little bit easier when you feel refreshed and motivated after your weekly run! So whether you are a power walker looking to up your game and enter your first 10k or a 10ker wanting to go for your first half marathon then Strideout will help you by providing training plans and useful tips on how to reach your goal..as well as the opportunity to have a chatter and put the word to rights with like minded women!
Strideout is backed by Run England www.runengland.co.uk both Run Leaders Andrea Barber and Gaye Fletcher hold UKA Coach Licenses.
Strideout meet Monday 6pm at the reception of Wisewood Sports Centre, Laird Rd, S6 4BH.
It is a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and no newcomers will feel out of place. They offer a buddy system so you’ll never be on your own.
